Veiled

Veiled, originally uploaded by NatalieManuel.

An older photo that I have finally gotten around to looking at. She’s a gorgeous Orangutan, something always thoughtful about her gaze.

I’ve been asked about how I am getting the black backgrounds without the unattractive edges or the darker ‘burnt’ edges when you use the burn tool. The technique is really simple (and sure to get a few photoshop pedantics wanting to kill me perhaps?) – add a new fill layer with a solid colour black, and then use the history brush on low opacity to bring back the image gradually! You get a more interesting effect and you can always lighten the face more than the surrounding fur by using a greater opacity with the history brush on particular spots. Works a simple treat. If you try it, let me know.
